ELIGIBILITY AND APPLICATION January 18: Deadline for Applications The PDLG Fellows Program is open to any first-year law student who has overcome substantial obstacles in the pursuit of a legal career or comes from a disadvantaged background or one that is underrepresented in the profession. 2018 PDLG Symposium: Diversity in the First Chair
Diversity in the First Chair is a symposium focusing on the importance of having more women and diverse lawyers as first chairs in the courtroom and the boardroom. The plenary sessions from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. will include sessions on the view from the bench, from in-house counsel and from male attorneys and their female or diverse mentees. Law Firms as Businesses: How that Affects Assoicates
Diverse first and second year associates at PDLG member law firms heard a presentation by James Brogan, Esq. of DLA Piper on how law firms work as businesses and the different ways that impacts assoicates including profitability, assignments (billable hour limits, can you say no, etc.), evalutaions and value. The dinner that followed was an opportunity to meet and talk in small groups with associates from other firm about this topics and others of interest.
